Do you Review Your Prices? I have!

It’s the time of the year that I review my business, my rates and what is working for me. This week’s podcast covers why an annual review is important, what prices I’m putting up and why you should consider your own prices.

As freelancers, it’s important to periodically review our business practices and make necessary adjustments. One crucial aspect that often gets overlooked is the pricing of our services. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the topic of reviewing freelance fees, explore the reasons behind price adjustments, and provide actionable steps to help you navigate this process effectively.

1. The Need for Price Adjustments:

  • Rising costs of tools and services: Emma Cossey highlights how increases in prices for tools like Podia and Hello Audio have impacted her course offerings.
  • Feedback on undervalued courses: Customers have expressed that some courses are priced too low, leading to the perception that they may lack comprehensive content even though they are packed full of useful content for Freelancers.

2. Course Price Adjustments:

  • Specific courses and their revised prices: Emma outlines the courses that will undergo price changes, including “30 Days to Go Freelance,” “How to Find Clients Quickly and Easily,” “Freelancing for Graduates,” “Creating a Freelance Funnel,” “Becoming a Networking Pro,” and “How to Write a Freelance Business Plan.”
  • The rationale behind the price adjustments: Emma emphasises the value and extensive content within each course, justifying the need for the prices to reflect the content.

3. Accountability Voxer Coaching Monthly Package:

  • Increased pricing for accountability Voxer Coaching: Emma announces a price increase for the monthly accountability voxer coaching package, which provides regular check-ins and support at the beginning and end of each week to help you stay accountable.

4. The Importance of Reviewing Freelance Fees:

  • Acknowledging the need for rate adjustments: Emma Cosser encourages freelancers to review their pricing structures regularly, considering factors such as increased costs of living and tools.
  • Overcoming discomfort in raising rates: Despite concerns about client pushback, it’s crucial to ensure fair compensation and avoid taking an accidental pay cut.
  • Options for rate adjustments: Emma suggests offering pre-booking options at current prices or adjusting the scope of work to maintain client relationships while accounting for increased costs.

Take control of your freelance business by reviewing your pricing structure. Use Emma’s template and resources to assess your fees and make necessary adjustments. Remember, fair compensation is essential for sustaining a thriving freelance career.

By proactively reviewing and adjusting freelance fees, you can ensure that your business remains profitable and sustainable. Don’t shy away from raising rates when necessary, as it is a crucial step towards maintaining a healthy income. Embrace the fresh start of September and take charge of your freelance pricing today.
